Maybelline Pure Liquid Mineral Foundation

It took me a lot of thinking, whether to buy this foundation or not because I currently have my Revlon ColorStay and Loreal Firming foundations, and I have read mixed reviews on blogs. However, I don't like using regular foundation for my everyday face makeup because I can feel that it sucks all the moisture from my face making it look dull and aged, and seems like a mineral foundation is something that I need. Then finally I was sold when Maybelline offered 30% discount during the sale last month, how can I say no to that?

I love the packaging very much because it's glass, and it has a pump so it's less messy. It contains 25ml of mineral foundation, and has a spf of 18. The shade that I got is in BO1, which is Beige Ocre and the lightest color. This is a warm-toned foundation that is suitable for those with warm skin tones. I should be getting the OC foundation because I'm mostly yellow toned with pink cheeks, but I decided to go for BO instead, and I think I like it. It also comes in OC or Ocre for neutral tones, and PO or Pink Ocre for those with pink or cool undertones. I do agree on some of the claims of Maybelline which you can find on the photo below of this foundation giving the skin a natural glow, and has breathable coverage. I didn't break out so it's a good thing, but I'm not sure how people with sensitive skin will react to this foundation.

This foundation has a very runny consistency and offers light to medium buildable coverage. If you want to build it up, pat it on the skin instead of blending it with your hands, making sure to allow the first layer to set before applying the next layer. You may also apply with a foundation brush, but patting it gives you more coverage. I don't like that it's grainy and feels like you're using a scrub on your face so blend this with a light hand and DO NOT rub this on your skin. The mineral pigment sits into the fine lines making it appear more visible as you can see below, so that's another thing that I'm not liking about this foundation.

The color matches me well as my face is naturally a fairer than my neck. It oxidizes and matches your skin tone so even if you got this on a shade lighter, it'll still work for you. One pump is enough for one application on my face and neck. I only applied one layer of this foundation, and I am already happy with the coverage. You can still see some old pimple marks on my chin, but it evened out my skin tone pretty nicely. Plus it dries matte!

after 5 hours 

I forgot to snap a photo of the finished makeup look. I'll just post a different one here soon. This was taken 5hrs after, and it managed to stay onto my skin well, and gave me a healthy dewy look. It appears oily, but it doesn't look like that at all in person. It was also pretty hot and humid today, but it didn't melt. It held onto my skin okay. I have oily skin so this is really not bad. I didn't blot my face because I wanted to show you how this foundation looked after a few hours. It didn't make me look oily because I'm using a good oil-free moisturizer which I will review next. So if you want this foundation to last longer and control your oil, consider using a moisturizer that doesn't contain oil or a face primer if you already have one. 

Overall, this foundation is okay considering the price. I don't think I'll be repurchasing though because I don't like that it's rough on the skin, but I don't regret buying this foundation at all.

My verdict: 4 STARS!!!

UPDATE:

I have a love-hate relationship with this foundation because it works great, but I don't like how it feels on the skin when I apply it. However, it doesn't change the fact that this works incredibly well on me. I have been using this everyday, and it lasts a long time on my face. I'm loving it like my bb creams! This would have been perfect for me if it weren't for the grainy feel. I have to change my rating from 3.5 to 4.
