Dry Hair? Try the Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Rinse

Did you know that apple cider vinegar has lots of benefits and is good for the hair too?! I used to have very dry hair from heat styling and coloring, and I often buy hair products and use it at the same time to treat it. Then one day I decided to use natural products on my hair instead of a store bought hair products because I thought it would be more effective. Since hair-care products use raw ingredients, why not skip all the chemicals and just go straight to the source?! That way, my hair gets all the nutrients it needs, plus it's cheaper and easier to prepare. So I started to do some research and read a few positive reviews on Apple Cider Vinegar. I've heard about this a long time ago, but I didn't bother trying it all. I blame it on the laziness. Then I tried it for a week, and the result was lovely!

I started my Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Rinse 4 months ago and after continued use, I noticed that my hair has improved. It isn't dry and brittle anymore, and I have less hair fall. I didn't expect to see dramatic results this fast. I was kind of surprised myself, and I wish I started earlier. I do use a homemade hair mask too so I'm not giving all the credit to the Apple Cider Vinegar. Although, I started with this hair remedy first, and my hair has gotten a lot better since then.

Here are some of the hair care benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar:
  • Balances hair and scalp pH
  • Removes product buildup
  • Treats dandruff
  • Minimizes hair loss
  • Locks in moisture into the hair
  • Adds body and shine

For those who are interested, here's the very easy to prepare recipe :)

Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Rinse
1 part of the Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar
1 part filtered or mineral water

Mix both ingredients. Rinse hair after shampooing. For extra conditioning, leave on for 1-2 minutes and rinse well. The smell will fade away after a few minutes so don't worry. You don't need to use a conditioner anymore after rinsing your hair but feel free to do so if your hair needs extra nourishment.

I use this twice a week because my hair is dry, and this gives it life and makes it bouncy and shiny.

TIPS:
  • Use a cologne spray or any spray container so it's easy to spread the concoction over the entire hair, and you don't waste too much product versus pouring it all in from a glass of water.
  • Prepare the rinse fresh each time if possible. I get better results with this. If not, make one that's good for a few uses, and keep the extra in the fridge.

I also use Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar as a toner too, and it really works great! It doesn't sting and doesn't cause me any skin irritation. It's the only toner I trust not to dry my skin or break me out other than my Dickinson's. The advantage of the Apple Cider Vinegar though is I don't need to run to the store to buy it. It's way cheaper too! I'll make another post on that to share my experience soon.

Have a great weekend everyone! Be safe and God bless :)

  1. I tried using apple cider vinegar as a toner and it broke me out because it couldn't really completely rid my pores of dirt, so I went back to alcohol toners. But I've tried it as a post-shampoo rinse and it really does work well! Makes my hair shiny. But where do you buy Bragg's? I've only tried Heinz because it's the only apple cider vinegar available in the supermarket near me.

  2. Hi Aviva! I like your name :). I actually tried Heinz first because Bragg wasn't available then and it worked fine. When I used bragg though, it was a lot better and I like it more. SM and Robinsons Supermarket has Bragg :)
