NYC Cover Stick in Light

There's so much raving about the NYC Cover Stick in blogs and forums, so I thought of jumping on the band wagon myself and see what the babble is all about, as I am also in a quest of finding my HG concealer yet. The moment I saw this; I didn't think twice of buying it, and I was incredibly excited that I have found a gem.

The price is really very reasonable, and that explains why so many people like this concealer a lot. I think that the packaging is also cute because it looks like a lipstick in a clean, clear plastic container and silver bullet. Only problem is the product doesn't go all the way down so you have to be careful when putting the cap back. The shade I have is in light, and they have this in medium, natural, yellow, and green as well.

Well, I was a little disappointed with this product, and let me tell you why... The product is a little waxy. It's glides on the skin nicely, but it sinks into my fine lines, which make me look more exhausted, and OLD! It takes me forever to blend it because it sits on to my skin really badly. I love the color because it's a shade lighter than my skin tone, perfect for under eyes to brighten up and highlight the area, but I just cannot make it appear natural on me. It makes my eye bags look saggy and swollen like I cried all night. I have tried rubbing it on my fingers to melt the product then push it on to my skin, but it doesn't work. Using a brush is no good either. I have tried sponge, and yet no luck. It doesn't have too much coverage either the moment you blend it. It's like building up a wax mixed with powder! I have made it work on my dark spots though as I just push or dab it on the area, but still it doesn't look flawless, unless I set it with powder.

Although I cannot make this work on areas such as around my mouth and nose, and under eye because it creases, it did manage to conceal my dark spots, which is good enough for me. I don't have too many spots to cover really, and most of the time I skip concealer actually, but I do want it to work when I need and want it to. I don't like throwing away makeup because I don't like wasting money, even if I only got this at an inexpensive price. I just wish that I understood what the rave was all about because I'm not experiencing it at all. I have quite a few NYC products, and so far this is the one that performed the least. Still I'm going to continue buying from NYC because I believe that they are really good investment for the price and quality.


My verdict: 1.5 STARS!!! I would rather spend twice the price of this concealer for a decent one that I can actually use and love.

NYC Cheek Glow Powder Blush Central Park Pink

I immediately fell in love with this blush when I first saw it because the color is something I don't have yet. It's a very subtle peachy pink blush with a beautiful of sheen to it that's perfect for highlighting to give the face a fresh glow. The packaging is quite big with 8 grams of product, which is a lot, in my opinion. It also comes with a small brush which you can't really use, but I still keep them, in case I actually need it.

The powder is fine and pressed really well that when you swipe your brush over it, it doesn't crumble, and that makes me happy because I don't it like my blushes does that. You'll see in the photo that there appears to be shimmer, but that doesn't really show up on the skin. All you get is a pretty and healthy glow on the skin. I didn't expect this to work like a blush because of how they called it as a cheek glow. As you can see on the swatch, there's not so much pigmentation in it, which is fine by me since I only wanted a sheer wash of color when I use this anyway. The pretty peachy pink shade would enhance any blush if you layer this on top, or pop this on top of the cheeks for a nice sheen.

Unlike other pigmented highlighters, you need to run your brush over this blush about four times to get it to show up on your cheeks because it's very sheer. It's not talc-y so you can apply this over your face without looking cakey. This may not suit everyone but should work on light to fair skin tones just fine. I love the glow that it gives the skin, and even if I need to spend a little more time to get this blush to show, I don't really mind because I like the effect that it gives my skin. Sometimes it's nice to have a sheer blush if you only want a soft touch of color on your face, especially if you're sporting a bold lip or a dramatic eye. It doesn't stay on too long though, which is the downside of this product.

Overall I give this cheek glow 4 STARS!!!

NYC Cheek to Cheek Duo Blusher

I'm really excited about this product because the moment I saw it I absolutely fell in love with this duo blusher! It's a bronzer and highlighter in one with a satin-y finish so to me it's perfect because I don't like shimmer bronzers that much. It has 3.9 grams of product and comes with a small brush which is quite soft. I tried to use it but it only took a lot more product and didn't do so much blending. I'm still keeping the brush though in case I need it especially when I'm on the road :). The packaging is okay but I bet will smash into pieces if I drop it which is just fine with me because the price is pretty reasonable. I just have to be careful not to drop it then :D.

If you look closer there are tiny shimmers on the swatch but it doesn't really show up when you apply it on the face. The powder is very fine so it's very easy to apply and blend. The pigmentation is really good as I only needed to pat my brush lightly on the product and it shows up nicely on my face :). It stays on great as well because it looked pretty much the same after wearing it for 6 hours, and I have oily skin! Below are some shots on different lighting. I added a few closer shots as well.

I love how the bronzer gave my face some definition, shape, and natural glow. The shades are really pretty! I love them a lot because it's not too orange and not too dark for my skin tone. The highlighter is also not too bright/yellow on my skin. I love how it doesn't appear too obvious but reflects enough light to give glow on the face where you apply it. This shade will suit fair skin tones well. 

 My verdict: 5 STARS!!! I truly love this bronzer highlighter and I'm looking to find another one soon. This one is really a must try and I recommend it to everyone who are looking for a bronzer highlighter on a reasonal price.

Collective Haul

Hello everyone! How are you all doing? This week is extremely busy and I lost my internet so I haven't had a chance to write a review. I barely have the chance to go online because the issue with my internet is still on going which is really a bummer. So this post is going to be a little short.

I got a few items I'm pretty excited to review and share what I think of these products with you all. The one I am most excited about are the Lioelle BB Creams. I have head so many good reviews about these BB creams and I have to try it myself. I got the 5ml sample tubes on ebay to test it out and see what I think of them. I'm a huge fan of BB creams and I prefer them over foundation, However, one bb cream broke me out so I'm very careful which ones to use. So far Skin79, Skin Food, Etude, Tony Moly, and Danahan works amazing on my skin. All of these I got on sample sizes awhile back and they last a long time because a little goes a long way :). I want to try different varieties and brands so buying them on sample sizes is really practical for me :D.

I'm also thrilled about The Face Shop Nail Polish, the NYC Cheek 2 Cheek which is a bronzer and a highlighter, Maybelline Color Sensational in a new shade, and the new Avon Ultra Moisture Rich Rose Lipstick which I heard is like their version of Lip Butter so I'm really looking forward to trying it. I took separate pictures of the items so you can see them closer :).

I don't wear false lashes and I never have but I think it's never too late for me to learn how. I got a lash adhesive from The Face Shop because the lash glue that came with the lashes were already dried up :D. That's okay because I only got them so cheap so I can't really complain about it. I'll post some swatches soon.

NYC Ultra Moist Lip Wear 301B Cafe'

Here's another NYC lipstick review on Ultra Moist Lip Wear 301B Cafe'. I loved the Violet Shine shade I've had for months now so I decided to try this one as well because the shade is a very pretty nude. It's a bronze-y, pinkish, peach-y shade lip color which I heard is comparable to MAC's Viva Glam V, Loreal's Carmel Latte and Revlon's Champagne on Ice, so if you're looking for a dupe of these more pricey lipsticks, you may want to try this one first :). 

It's a very creamy and easy to apply balm-like lipstick. I have no issues with staying power because it lasts pretty good. You can certainly build it up but you won't need to because it's extremely pigmented.

This lipstick is quite frosty and may put you off if you're not into pearly lip colors. I already expected it before I got it since Violet Shine is also very metallic. However, you can soften it by adding a nude gloss on top. This is the lipstick I used on the Plum Eyes FOTD that I did yesterday and it looked good. You can check the pictures by clicking on the link. I have to say that the pearls are not too noticeable unless you look closer. I'm not too crazy about it when worn alone but adding a lip gloss or a lip balm makes it look pretty nice. You can wear it alone if you're going for a matte face to add drama to the look as it adds attitude to the lips. This shade will suit fair skin more, but could look too frosty if you have tanned skin.

NYC Ultra Moist Lip Wear 302 Cafe' Swatch

 I really like the effect this lipstick gives on the look. It's a great shade to wear if you're sporting a dramatic smokey eye. It's not an ideal shade to wear during day time because of the frost but you certainly can if you want to!

My verdict: 4.5 STARS!!! The quality is good for the price which you can get for $0.99 and is worth the try if you're into collecting lipsticks and like to try different brands.

Hello everyone! Been working for 12hrs and just had the chance to post some swatches of the new products I bought last week. I won't be doing an in-depth review on New York Color Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder, Sunny #720 because it's late here now (1:58am) and I need to catch some sleep. Here are some of the pictures of the bronzer. I'm not sure how much this retails now so I can't give you the price in the market but I bought this for P300. I believe this is available in ebay.

I like how the powder is pressed very well and it is very fine. It is also very pigmented and nice to use for contouring and to add glow on the skin. It's non-comedogenic which means it won't clog the pores, it's dermatologist tested so it's safe for sensitive skin, and is oil-free so those with oily skin will not have issues with this bronzer (yehey!).

Using this bronzer to contour my cheeks and little glow on my skin was easy. The application was not messy and it was easy to work on the skin. Looks really good if you want a sun kissed look this summer. I didn't break out, no itching, no irritation, and it stayed all the day on my skin which is really great! I only had to tap my brush a bit and the color picked up really well. It gives a pretty sun kissed and healthy glowing skin and I love it. I know this isn't the best photo but this is the one I have for now. My faced looks more sun kissed in person when I took this photo but the flash on my camera washed it out, sorry guys :(. Hopefully I have time to post some more this week if I get some time off work. 

I really like this bronzer and I give it 5 STARS!!! Hope you like it! Just posting a new photo of me using the bronzer on my cheeks, Avon Ultra Rick Mega Impact Lipstick in Divine Wine C302 on my lips, a little mascara, foundation mixed with a little moisturizer, and pressed powder on my face and that's it. I think it looks polished enough and timely for the summer (at least for me).

The only thing I retouched for the purpose of this review is my lipstick. The bronzer was never retouched and I wore this since this morning. I took this photo the moment I got home and this is how it looks like after 8hrs (not bad, right?!). I'm just in love with this bronzer! Let me know what you think :).
